I am sure this has been asked before but what is the best prime lens for the Sony A6000?

Here's a website that supposedly answers that question: http://www.cameraegg.org/best-lenses-for-sony-a6000/. Looks like it depends on how deep your pockets are.

DxOMark has tested and reported on both prime and zoom lenses for the 6000.
Best prime as rated by them is the Zeiss Sonnar T 55/1.8.

IMO, I think you went the best choice considering the 6000 does not have in camera stabilization. The O.S.S lenses are rated pretty good.
Good luck with purchase.

I went in to the local Best Buy this morning and they had the lens on sale for $249 down from $299. I took several test shots and I am impressed with the results so far.

Update: I returned the 50mm and purchased the 35mm Sony lens. This was at Best Buy and I was surprised how smooth the exchange was, in and out in less than 15 minutes.
The 50mm was very good but I needed a wider view.

Pretty sure that will be my next choice as well.

After only using the 35mm lens for a couple of days I am impressed.

For a wider view, add the sigma art 19mm for under $200. You won't be disappointed.

The Sony E mount lenses that I have now are the 18-55, 55-210, 16-50 zooms and the new 35 prime and the 16 not so prime. But in the future I will look at the 19mm Sigma. Thanks for the suggestion.

I didn't realize that you had a wide array of lenses. It looks like you have it all covered. Good shooting.
