Little bee common around these parts. I believe it’s a native bee but not being an expert it’s hard to be certain. Testing out the MP-E 65 on the Olympus OM-D E-M1. When I was first shopping for a camera system I wanted to buy into the Olympus u4/3 system and I wanted an MP-E 65. At the time there wasn’t an EF to u43 adapter so the lens won out and I went with Canon. Having since acquired an E-M1 I thought I’d look for an EF-u43 adapter and rig up the MP-E. I bought a cheap (non-electronic) Fotasy adapter and gave the combo a whirl on the stacking rig. Initial results are very encouraging. I need to run a few more stacks and run some fields tests but based on these initial results I suspect I’ll be investing in a MetaBones EF-u43 electronic adapter in the near future. Oh the possibility of using my Sigma 180 f2.8 on the EM-1 is close to becoming a reality. ;-)

Shot specs - OM-D E-M1 - MP-E 65mm @ 3:1 - 150 frame stack - f/2.8 - ISO 100 - SS 1/320 - 600EX-RT flash @ 1/16 power with DIY concave diffuser - Zeiss Microscope fine focus block used to move camera.

Thanks Allen, I was thinking of scraping some of the pollen beads off and photographing them at 20X. Perhaps this evening...

Looks promising  I like the pollen balls. Consider keeping them on the bee.

Thanks Bill, not sure I can resist the temptation to try and photograph the pollen beads at high magnification... ;-)

Thank you Piet, I may try and restack this guy with a larger steps in the hops that final image doesn't build up as much contrast.
