The bird is an ordinary Moorhen. The first shots were taken early in the morning. The last when the sun had finally fully lit the day.

You are so right. At that time of day the light changes dramatically every few minutes.

I still prefer morning light Larry. Extreme contrasts on mid-day birds doesn't work for me. Soft light does so much for feather patterns.
