An interview with Bushpilot,
1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
Since I was in 9th grade 9 thats about 57 years ago) when I took a photography and darkroom course.
2) Do you have any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
I just self sought for the most part. I do personal photography, plus I am an exclusive photo contributor for IStock.
3) In your opinion, what makes a good picture stand out from the rest?
First, impact which means different things different people, second, composition.
4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup? Can you walk us through it?
Nothing special just a DSLR , mid day under the canopy of an abandoned gas station.
5) Do you post process your final images, and if so can you describe your workflow?
Yes, adjusting, cropping, and evening out exposure in Lightroom. I converted it to black and white in Macphuns Tonality Pro. Then in Photoshop I resized the image and added the borders top and bottom.
6) Who or what has influenced your photography and what inspired you to take your winning shot?
I like the photographers from the 40's and 50's, especially André Kertész.
7) Would you change anything if you could do it again, and if so what?
I would have waited until later in the day or even a cloudy day so i would have a wider choice of backgrounds.
8) What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?
The proper use of reflectors and light discs.
9) What is your favorite photography accessory, other than your camera?
Photoflex Lite Discs.
10) If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?
My 35mm F1.4
11) What lighting equipment, if any, do you take on a shoot?
None
12) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Probably painting.
