You might want to re-phrase your title. It looks like you have a Rebel XT for sale. If you are looking for a lens, say so in the title, you will have a MUCH better chance of getting an appropriate response.

Thanks, Everyone wanted $199.00 + Tax which is approx. $15.00 more in Calif, I ended up buying a new lens for $149.00 with no charge for shopping and no tax from 42nd st photo NYC
$149 out the door + $3.00 rebate from Credit Card. Such a deal

Yes, that's cheap. But I hope you are aware that you have absolutely no warranty on any lenses or cameras bought from 42nd St Photo as the products they sell are all grey market.

I appreciate the comment. Let's see what I get and I'll pursue it from there as on the site it shows a Canon product. I'll let you know.

Bud - in this section you can edit both the title and content of your post such as: Looking for EF-S 18-55mm lens

See the "Edit Topic's title" in the upper left of the page, just above "bookmark"

Got my lens, I thought it was not functioning properly and called Canon 800 # the rep verified that it was defective and I returned it to 42nd st on Monday. Went to a photo class I am attending and a student had a new Canon Rebel with the same lens I received. Upon looking and trying it I 'think" I discovered that my original lens from 42nd was functioning properly, they,42nd, will most likely be sending me a new lens and I'll go from there.
42nd st seems to be very co-operative. Will keep you posted.

The comment about grey market lenses having no warranty is wrong. Canon honors any Canon product equally. Grey market lenses are imported into the US by Canon USA .

Absolutely incorrect!
The reason they are "grey market" is exactly because they are NOT imported by Canon USA. They are imported by third party vendors who Canon will not grant a dealership to for whatever reason. The warranty they carry is only good in the country that originally imported them, and these third party sellers remove the Canon factory warranty slips and often offer a "store warranty" which typically is for 1 year for parts but only 90 days for labor. And they will NEVER tell you in advance what their labor rate is, not until you try to get something repaired after that first 90 days.
