I have not done any serious printing in many years now - so I am wondering what is the state of the art in printing these days from a digital file, and which labs do the best work. I am looking for extraordinary quality - for large prints I will be selling.

Try Bay Photo, they are wonderful to work with and will print any size on any medium. I use Costco for my routine prints, cannot come anywhere close to their quality for the price anywhere else. But Bay Photo is where I go if I need something special. Here is their website:

Look into printing on aluminum. There are several companies that do this. I have been happy with Magna Chrome in California.

Adorama does excellent work. I have also had good work done at my local Ritz Camera. I have also heard good things about MPix.

I just got my competition prints back today from ACI. (ACIlab.com) and they are breathtaking. Sure, I sent good files, but their output is stunning. i will say that Bay Photo, Burrell, H&H, WHCC, all do spectacular work.

As docrob mentioned, Reed in Denver is very good, but more expensive than those mentioned above and I have not seen enough difference to warrant the price.
