I believe this to be an old grove of filbert trees- as seen from about 200 yds.
I've done some cropping and minimum pp. Your comments are most welcome.

Looks a little flat on my monitor - maybe a little added contrast and color.

Enlarge the download, and then minimise it again to screen size.

I think the contrast and colour is fine.
Would work wonderful as a black and white.
I am left wanting a different composition though.
I want more height, more space above the trees and less foreground.
Maybe take the foreground back to almost the base of the trees and add almost the same amount in height.

I somewhat like the composition, but the lack of brilliance renders this a somewhat lacklustre image. I think a lot of careful post processing would bring the subjects out quite a bit and make this a rather interesting photograph.

Lighthouse, I've been over all your suggestions (except b&w) to get where it's at. I'll start over before dumping it--and give mono a try. Thanks very much for your attention. Bob

rMalarz, from one Bob to another, I'm somewhat weary of this lacklustre shot.
I do appreciate your comments. Back to the monitor! Bob

Do you mind my asking what drew your eye that made you want to take this picture. I don't mean that sarcastically, I am trying to understand what of the several things you are trying to present. For example, I see some real potential in the reds and greens and the texture of the trunks of the trees but that may not be what you were seeing.

I ask, largely because of your last comment. It seems to need some post processing but ....

Bob, don't be so quick to dump it.
I think it is a much better shot than you give it credit for.
It has grown on me considerably since my first impressions.
I love the light and colours.
The blue vs yellow tones is very nice.
Definitely worth experimenting with crops.

gdwsr, I'm irrevocably smitten by the trees in Oregon. As they change with the seasons the feast for my eye (I have two) is always stimulating. In this scene I was drawn to the wild shapes and --sinister?--feeling of the grove. Considered calling it Black Forest or Witches Dance, but knew i'd be called on to explain and settled on something obvious. I've cropped out what seemed to detract from the
Bobdark feeling, and slightly reduced the exposure. For me, it's a tapsetry and has no story.

Hi Lighthouse- I tried to explain myself to gdwsr and screwed up the last sentence--or the machine did. Really don't want to do more pp. For me, less is more--as regards to fiddling around with my photographic attempts. My idiosyncracy! The HH brotherhood produces many wonderful images and being able to go to this site is one of the best times of my day. Bob

I like this image a lot. It isn't a grand scene but instead is an intimate landscape photo in the general style of my favorite photographer, Guy Tal. The composition is one I am tempted to draw lines on to show the flow of the eye through the scene but we aren't allowed to do that here. The color palette of blues and golds with a hint of contrasting red is very appealing. I do itch to tinker a bit with the colors to get more depth and richness, which I think is lurking there and could easily be brought out.

I respect your right to decide how much post processing to do but in my view, post processing is so integral, I don't know how you can resist the urge to shape such a nice image.

One question I would have is whether the posted image on UHH looks like the one on your monitor that you were pleased with. In the exif there is a warning about a color space error of some type WARNING: Embedded color profile: “Camera RGB”
Some popular web browsers ignore embedded color profiles, meaning users of those browsers see the wrong colors for this image.
STRANGE: The embedded color profile differs from the metadata tags (sRGB (EXIF:ColorSpace)).
.

If your monitor image is brighter than the posted image, you might want to re-visit your export and see if something in the process sucked some color from it along the way. Or perhaps, as the warning suggested, it only looks different to folks with certain browsers...

Minniev, I think the posted image is close enough to the one on my monitor.
It's likely that these old eyes (and brain) are no longer sensative to the subtle
differences you see. I really appreciate your thoughtful comments.

Pilot 6, I have an ongoing love affair with trees as well. I love their shapes, textures, colours ... I really like these trees. The branches are so gnarly .. I like the wispy leaves .. I love that deep blue sky colour behind the light green leave .. I really like that contrast of colour ... so ... here's what I'd do. I would go back and shoot it just for the detail of the top branches and leaves against that deep blue sky. I would want an abstract image reminding me of this beautiful grove of trees. Isn't that what attracted you to take this photo in the first place? It's just another idea ...

Thanks Nightski--the deep blue isn't the sky ('twas a gray day), but a forested butte about a mile behind the grove. I'll bet that you have many dozens of abstract pics of branches against the ski--as I do. And that you love them all----as I do mine. I really appreciate your input.
