I have a nikon 70-300 zoom lens and it will not seem to focus... Seems to keep hunting when in auto focus. Lens is approx 5 yrs old, using it with a Nikon D7100... Any suggestions as to why this is happening?
Have you bumped it or dropped it? Ive had one for around the same amount of time and had no problems
Possibly... Let my son use it for a while and the he gave back,,, Tried using it and it won't focus.. Might be...
Haf that happen to another lens of mine. Find a nikon rep close or send it in to be fixed. I wouldnt think it would run too much comparitbly speaking if they can fix it
Thanks Trey, really appreciate the speedy comeback.
have you cleaned the lens contacts and checked to make sure they all move freely?
Another great ( and fast) repair service is Authorized Photo Service in Morton Grove IL (nikoncamerarepair.com)I just sent my 35-70mm f/2.8D to them. They send an estimate, you give the ok or not. You would only be out shipping both ways. I gave the ok for my repair work on a Monday afternoon, I got my lens back that Thursday ( I am in PA) I hear a lot of positive feedback about them on nikonians. Would use them again in a split second ( hoping I do nto HAVE too!)
Have not checked the contacts... Will give that a try later today... Thanks both for the repair service recommendations... Will be sure to keep them on file.
Had a back focus problem with this lens. Sent it to Nikon . They fixed it for about $170. They give you the option to accept their charge before the lens is fixed.
