How does everyone feel about nikons program called viewnx?
I don't use it. LR and PSCC are too hard to beat.
I load all of my pics to it. If you wish, you can see the histogram, camera, lens and settings. Kind of neat. Minor pp,crop, etc.

I have not looked at the software in a long time, but my memory of it is that it's capable software for simple edits and raw conversion.

Good question. View NX is my go-to program 99% of the time.
I allows me to import, store, crop, sharpen, adjust lighting and make color corrections. That is generally all I wish to do. One feature that I really like is the ability to shoot RAW, make corrections, and save in RAW and at any time go back to the original and do it again for a different result
If I need to use a clone/heal tool, I will use Fastone Image Viewer. If noise reduction is needed, I have Nikon Capture NX-D.
Bottom line, I find it to be the easiest program to use and it gets the job done - and the price is right.

View NX 2 is very limited as to what it can do, but it works well with the Nikon specific settings like ACTIVE-D settings and Picture Control.
That being said, I shoot raw, turn off active-d and set picture control to neutral - only affects jpgs out of the camera.
I make use of Lightroom and Photoshop, but keep View NX2 around just in case it might do a better job on a raw NIKON (NEF) file.
Nikon also gives away CAPTURE-NX D, but when I looked at it it really seemed slow.
Most here use Lightroom 5 and/or Photoshop in their workflow. You can get both for a subscription of $9.99 a month or you can buy Lightroom 5 for between $100 and $150 depending on the day of the week. Amazon has it now for $139.99 for a downloadable copy. Lightroom 6 is on the way, so I would either get the subscription or hold off for a while on buying the software. The Nikon software is very basic, but it works. I am a Nikon guy and used Picasa (free from Google) instead before moving up to Lightroom a couple of years ago.

Right at this point in my life a subscription would not be very cost effective, as an over the road truck driver my time is very limited. I see so many potential photos while traveling but normally no time to play and also no where to pull over 75 feet of tractor and trailer, carry the camera hoping for the right picture at the right time. Also I own the truck so when I am at home truck maintenace and other chores keep me busy HI HI.

I can relate to all you are saying. That is why I have kept a book of all the places I want to go back to after seeing them while driving.I figure it is going to take me 5 years to go back to all of them so in 242 work days or 381 total days the camper gets hooked to the pick up and a trip from Tucson east starts and The "Big Easy" here I come.
I have Photoshop CS2 which is sufficient for what I do but it won't open the RAW files from my new camera so I use View NX2 and it's OK. I basically do the raw conversion with it and most of the time that's all I need. If I need further I save the file as TIFF and use CS2

I use it to download from my SD Card.
Then usually use Adobe Elements 12 to fiddle and diddle. If any diddling or fiddling is warranted.
Hey, it came with the camera, why not utilize it? :?

I lost the CD. I gave up fiddling and diddling when I got married.
