I have a friend who needs a new P&S. She sells glass on the internet and her photos are gruesome. I have set up a tabletop set up for her but her camera is not good at all. I was trying to make my way through the sea of products but I cannot find a camera that fits my wants for my friend. I want a camera that has AV and TV exposure modes for under $80. Does anyone know of a model that offers such features at that price?

You might want to check with Keh or one of the online stores on a good used bridge camera. A Canon sx series are good camera that fits that use. They have a zoom lens and many settings including wh bal. They can be had for about that price used. They also have high mp.

I bought my wife a Canon Powershot SD1300 IS Digital Elph a couple of years ago. It has a metallic body and one thing I like about it, the lens projects to adjust to the focal distance. It was under $200 and takes crisp, sharp pictures. It's small enough to keep with you at all times in a jacket pocket or car console. My daughter has a similar P&S and gets great pics of our grandson.

My wife also took an excellent shot with this camera while taking a short hike in Big Bend N.P.

You might have to look long and hard to find one for one under $80.00

Several years ago my wife bought me a P&S that cost $100 before I got my D7000. One problem with cameras in this range are that the batteries are not rechargeable. You just keep putting in new batteries.

When I bought my wife the Canon P&S that I mentioned earlier, there were less expensive models that did pretty much the same thing as her model. They had plastic bodies, however. You won't get one for $80, but you'll get a much better camera for $125-$145. You might check on Amazon, B&H, or other sellers of used cameras. You might find a quality used P&S in the price range you're suggesting.

If the camera is for her business, wouldn't it be a good idea for her to get a better quality point & shoot so she can get better pics? Even a $100.00 camera probibly wouldn't be much better than the one she has now. One suggestion would be shoot in natural light.

You might want to look into one of the cell phones. Several have those abilities.

If I wanted a P&S camera like that, it would have to have a hot shoe on top also.

PS: You might want to look at CompUSA

They have several low priced cameras.
