WPC 1504 - Cinematic Look

Hey Hedgehogs, it’s time for another Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s theme is entitled (the) Cinematic Look.
- Be sure the title or description of your entry explains your interpretation of the theme.

The challenges are simple. You start with a theme, but the twist is that everyone needs to submit a title or description with their photo that explains the ‘who, what, where, why, when or how’ they went through to get it. This helps us ‘feel’ the moment as you did, but can also help with voting. You might even find some great tips along the way.

This is about challenging yourself, pushing beyond your limits, so have fun and try anything and everything whether you are good at it or not. Remember; you can't win if you don't try. Good luck and have fun!

HELP -
The minimum requirements for this WPC are:
- Letterbox Format: to include an upper and lower letterbox
- Aspect Ratio: in the 4:3, 16:9, or greater ratios
Color filtering and post-processing are accepted
--
Aspect ratio (image) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspect_ratio_(image)
"Two common videographic aspect ratios are 4:3 (1.33:1),[a] the universal video format of the 20th century, and 16:9 (1.77:1), universal for high-definition television and European digital television."
Letterboxing (filming) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letterboxing_(filming)
"Letterboxing is the practice of transferring film shot in a widescreen aspect ratio to standard-width video formats while preserving the film's original aspect ratio."

Weekly Photo Challenge, with 'challenge' as the keyword, and I'm an optimist. Cheers! S-

Yeah, Ste3v3M, but you know how difficult it is, better than anyone else, to get submissions that adhere to all the rules, so you may want to lighten up on that one requirement.

BTW, I totally agree that you do a great job monitoring the contests.

BTW,BTW, do you ever vote in this contests? If so please to back to the last contest and give me another point. Please........please?

But BTW, BTW, Btw, Digital Photography School (DPS) just did an excellent article about when the various aspect ratios work best.

Yeah, Ste3v3M, but you know how difficult it is, b... (show quote)

Rules: since this is just between us... If it's in a wide-format with a letterbox it will pass.

BTW: Thanks, I try.

BTW, BTW: I think it unfair to enter or vote in the challenges.

BTW, BTW, BTW: Thank you!

I'm glad, Steve, you're returning to skill oriented topics. Recently it seemed the topics were snapshot themes ...

Am I wrong?

Some topics are weather oriented and better suited for different times of the year, but I hope to push more skilled topics where I can. S-

Ok long after the deadline, I think I figured out how to make fake letterbox. Not sure why it is a requirement for "cinematic" since you would not see a letterbox if you had a proper screen and made the movie in this decade. A 16:9 crop I get.

I PM'd a view of it to ask if what I created "worked and met guidelines" for next time, but you didn't respond to that specifically... http://weathermon.com/p1070485523/e3f232ea4 Here it is again. Not asking to be in this contest, just clarifying so if someone says "make a letterbox" I know what to do.

thank you...
