I have had my computer hacked resulting in a complete clean down and the loss of some programs, one of which was a very useful picture re-size reducing program that someone on the hog recommended a couple of years back, It was a great little program and really quick process---so does anyone remember what it was or have a link to it?

Thanks Geoff

Hello Geoff, sorry about your hacking problem.I use a freebie programme called ''Faststone image viewer''It's a great little progamme and comes In handy for touch up work as well. They do ask for a donation now and then but hey thats up to the user. One thing don't accept any add on's that they may offer when your downloading..

Geoff, OnOneSoftware makes a program named PerfectResize. It's up to version 9. The new PS CC 2014 has a new algorithm for upsizing photos that is equally as good.

Seems like the two that come up the most when checking 'search' is Faststone and PerfectResize. I have not tried the Faststone software but I do use PerfectResize exclusively for resizing. Works very well.

There is also a free companion program "FastStone Photo Resizer" which does a very good and easy job of re-sizing smaller. To re-size larger it will take something different.

Thanks a lot one and all, I will just have to carry on with the usual methods, it was just that this particular program, I think it was called Image Magic or something, was great to have sitting on the front page for quick access.

If you are using Photoshop CC, the results from it's resizing are quite good. You have to choose your interpolation mode, because the auto setting is very poor. I have OnOne v9 and I don't find Perfect Resize to be noticeably better.

Alright, here's a stupid question. I've always used photoshop to change the sizes of the images for different sized prints. What exactly do you all mean by re-sizing? Again, sorry to be so stupid on this.

I'm a fan of Alien Skin's "Blow-Up". Nice results up or down sizing.

YEP, OUCH, always watch those add on programs and decline or skip... use Spybot to clean or use Malbytes.

For upsizing/down sizing for non critical things, I use Faststone Resize... suggest you go direct to:
www.Faststone.Org
Rather than one of the many "we will get it for you sites"...
For super upsize look at
www.benvista.com/photozoomclassic
I was lucky and thru Serif offer go Classic 5... a last years program.... for $29... sorry... now 6 is out for an OUCH price... Have fun renting that Bill Board for your super sized photo....
