Many here deny Jesus ever existed, and the rest demand proof of his Deity and Gods word (the Bible). In the beginnings of the Church Jesus met, and called Saul a great persecutor of the christians, on the road to Damascus. Who’s name was changed to Paul; as a witness to the heathen Gentiles - talk about a tough job.

These people believed in a plethora of God’s, and Paul had to convince them of only one!. One God who had paid the price for their sins, and could save them from eternal torment. Which most, of them had some concept of. But not of such a God as this!; none of theirs made such promises or sacrifices. So Paul really!, had his work cut out for him,

Paul came not in defence of his Lord, nor apologizing for his faith. But boldly! preaching the only message that has any effect, that of the cross.
1Co 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
1Co 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

This is the message the Holy Spirit uses to renew the hearts, and minds of those he has chosen
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

The preaching of the cross is freely spoken to all, but few of those actually respond. Most will ask for proof especially these days. Paul gave an answer here,
Rom 10:6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above
Rom 10:7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
Rom 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

If believing required proof, then where woulld faith come in to the picture; it wouldn’t.
2Co 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

You see we are not capable of generating, or being convinced by words to believe in God. It is his gift only to those he has chosen. How God made these choices, is one of the mystery’s of God we are not given to understand. But they were made from the beginning, long before you or I were born.
Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Joh 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth (wills), and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

These were some Paul’s last words, on the subject.
1Co 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

This is what is wrong with the faith of many today, it rest in the secular convincing Gospel preached by most today. Not in the simple message, of the cross of Christ.

So when those here demand proof, there is none other than that God has already given. And that must be received, by faith alone. :)

One of my favorite verses in a long list is John 3:16. It pretty much says it all for me.

John 3:16-18; all together are the complete Gospel, in condensed form. :)

Steve, no matter how important or true the message is, the progressive left of today will go to any extreme to denounce anything that even hints of decency, family values, honesty, or patriotism. The Christian faith exault all of these things and cannot be tolerated by the tolerant left.

Okay, I really need to tell you the Bible is full of sh*t. Really. This is a book that says it's okay to own s***es but it's an a*********n to wear a cotton/polyester blend shirt.
Do you really subscribe to this lunacy?

I learned long ago that to pay attention to you and your comments was a useless waste of time, today is no exception.

The liberal party is full of s**t. Just because you suffer from extreme myopia, doesn't mean everyone does.

You must spend a lot of time reading the Bible.

If you really want to blow your mind, read the koran.

And Franky T what are you doing about the s***e trade that exists today in the African continent?

I'm sure I'm as involved in eliminating the s***e trade as you and for that matter the Catholic Church.

The part you don’t understand, is what the Bible refers to as “S***es”; were in reality indentured servants. In ancient Israel, all those in your household were considered as extended family. They fared much better than the poor, who had no masters. In fact most who had filled their time, chose to freely stay in servitude, rather than face the street.

And as far as polyester/cotton cloths, they didn’t have any, so I don’t think you will find that in the Bible. “Come on”.

Why would the bible instruct you about how to beat your "indentured servants." Did you miss that part ? ? ?

Leviticus 19:19 New International Version //Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.

Deuteronomy 22:11 New International Version//Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.

No!, unlike our politically correct society of today. Where criminals are excused, or even rewarded, or called socially mal-adjusted. At that time you were punished! according to the offense. For instance; an a******nist would have been put to death, not paid for his crime.

If it were still that way we would probably have less crime, at least there would be less criminals. :D

Old testament Mosaic laws, we are not held to those since Christ death paid for sin, and completed the old bringing in the new.
