Albeit I am a Nikon D810 user, I very much enjoy my Canon 5D MK II with the Canon 400mm f5.6..

Do any of our other UHH members have this lens and equally love the results it gives to them as well ?

I am unable to post any photos with this lens/camera combination, however; if anyone else does have some photos with the same, please post to demonstrate the results this lens is able to produce ! :)

Just got out of the hospital for a heart issue which has not yet been resolved.. Operation is next !

Also, am not able to get up to locate remote hard drives to look for photos taken with 400mm lens, but can lie here in bed to enjoy photos taken by other members. Do you have any to share ?

So sorry to hear about your condition. Hope everything goes well with your surgery. With today's technology you'll be up and about in no time.
Ray.
P.S. Do not have a 400mm, only a 100-400L Canon.

I just happen to have one of my son's shots with that lens from our last trip to Wyoming. It is a sharp lens and he enjoys it.

I have a 400 f5.6. It is mounted on a Canon 7D. I have many photos taken with this combo and I am pleased with the results I get. I know Osprey photos are a dime a dozen on this forum, but I have a few of my own. Here is an Osprey photo plus one I took this last weekend in New Mexico of a female pyrrhuloxia at the Bosque Del Apache NWR. Enjoy.

I own both the 400 and the 100 – 400 mm lenses. To me they are both equally sharp and I love both lenses. I had to make a decision as to which one to keep so I decided to keep the 100 – 400 mm and sold the 400 mm, only because I had just had the 100 – 400 mm rebuilt. The 400 mm is an excellent lens even though it is an old lens. Canon kept it in their line up because it was such a sharp lens. You can't go wrong with it, and will be sorry with it.

I use that lens on a 5D III and 7D II. I LOVE it. It is light enough to hand hold and especially good for BIF. I also have the 300 f4 and 1.4 tele extender. I used to prefer the IS in the later combo, but am turning IS off for BIF. So, the decision for me is, which one do I take. I like the 400 prime as it needs less PP in raw. (the only way I shoot).

I love this lens and consider it one of the best Canon makes. I also love the 135mm f2. Both these lenses are superior in every respect.
