From the things I have heard it's hardly a problem.
Everyone that's has it loves it.

So are they back on the shelf?

All stock has been pulled from the shelves at authorized dealers. When they're in stock again, they should not have a problem.

When the stores re-stock the cameras should be fine.

It is my understanding that It has been pulled from all sales shelves. Only the corrected version can be purchased new now.

I have a personal copy of that body, as well as two rentals, and have not been able to replicate the "flare" issue on any of them to this point.

Hey, do you think this may open a chance of
a good deal on one of these?

I don't mind getting an original. Everything I hear is
they are great cameras.

I have not been able to reproduce the flare problem either but I believe I got good advice to send it anyway to have Nikon give it a clean bill of health should I ever device to sell it.
(Hard to imagine!)

Are any available now with the corrected firmware? If not any idea when they will be available? I'm waiting to get one.

I have the D750 and absolutely love it. The information I have is that Nikon will issue the "official" recall at the end of this month for all current owners to send their cameras in for repair. Not sure when the new corrected versions will hit the shelves, however. I read that Nikon pulled all of them from the shelves, so if you can find one, it's "probably" ok. Like the rest of the posters here, I have not been able to recreate the problem.

The cameras pulled from stocks for examination and possible repair are only from "Authorized Retailers". There are still MANY un-authorized sellers pushing these bodies at the moment. Beware of these grey-market cameras as they will NOT be eligible for repairs by Nikon USA even if/when a recall is announced.

Picky point here, but I think it will require more than a firmware fix.
My guess is that they'll have to go in and physically replace a light baffle in the bottom of the body that will block the reflection.
