There are zillions of photoshop videos on youtube but none show how to do this?

The attached 2 photos show a type of high end processing which I would like to learn how to do. I believe the technique uses frequency separation but as much as I have tried frequency separation techniques I cannot get even close to the result that those pictures have. Does anyone know where I can learn this technique on line.

Thea one look looks like a collage with some HDR toning.

I agree, just looks like he put 2 or 3 images together and added some HDR.

This is a good intro to the technique: http://digital-photography-school.com/an-introduction-to-photoshop-compositing-for-beginners/

I'm not too great at Photoshop so I don't know if there's a better way, but theoretically I would shoot the kid behind a green screen with him posed like this in the picture... Then pretty much copy and paste him in there with the train going by, blurring the edges of him a bit so it looks like he's going with the train, which will also give you a softer edge; making it look like he's actually in the picture.
Then I would burn and dodge parts of him to give the same shading as in the picture.

OK everyone I goofed I was not talking about combining images like the one with the boy out the train window I was trying to show the look I was after with just one image. The new picture attached is an example of what I would like to learn how process to have a final result like this.

I don't think there is a lot of post here. Looks like a well lit model with a dark background.

Umm... I'm confused, you want to learn how to do this? Okay, get some lights and a person to pose for you. No need to use photoshop, maybe a couple minutes on Lightroom but that's it.

There is a lot of skin smoothing in this photo. All stray hairs have been removed . All blemishes and uneven skin tones have been fixed. I watched a tutorial with a photo similar to this one and the amount of PP was amazing. Try YouTube and type in photoshop portrait retouching

Find a model that looks like this, get a few studio lights and learn how to use them, take a picture. Then buy a copy of Portrait Pro and process the picture. Nothing to it.

I might suggest goal reassessment, for starters ;-) - I don't think that's a very good example of quality retouching at all (will elaborate if necessary). Not too awful bad on the photography, tho... the model could've benefitted from a pro makeup job to start with.

I like the flying kid with the camera better - that stuff is right in my PP wheelhouse...
