New friend of mine suggested this photo might do well in B&W. Shot with my 16-35 f/4 at 25mm, ISO 100, f/11, 1/640. What say you?
Looks great Great B&W I like the way the contrast is dispersed through out the image...
I much prefer the colored as the different layers are more obvious. The definition between the distance peaks and between the mountains and the sky are clearly defined. Blues and greens also please my "preppy" past!
I prefer the color version, as the black and white rendition is I think a bit visually confusing and less interesting. Perhaps if the tones had been translated to monochrome differently, such that the sunlit areas and shade areas in landscape were in stronger contrast to each other, one would get a better sense of depth, which is so prominent and appealing in the color version. When I look at the black and white version, my initial thought is, "what is this about, am I missing the subject hiding in the landscape?" Not so with the color version - the color tones clearly define all elements within the composition immediately.
The sky is great in b&w, but the other tones, textures, shapes and shadows are too similar to each other to make a big impact without color.
Hmmmm. . . I think I'd go the color, and do a little cropping top and bottom.

I much prefer the colored one. I am not big on back and white.
With the blue sky against the green hills...color.
Much as I appreciate black and white, when it comes to scenery and nature I prefer color.
I like the color.

I like the color. I usually would pick B& W but the color speaks to me. deb

The color. Brings out the beauty of the scene. The mountain ridge in the distance is more apparent in the color version. The different colors of the sky adds to the beauty.
The B&W is ok and would have been nice, if I had not seen the color version.
Mrjcall: I prefer the color because the entire image is in focus.

I prefer the color shot. It brings out the beauty of the area much more than the BW shot. I would not crop. The pattern of the clouds and the shading of the trees all add to the finished product.
The color, it has more of a visual impact.
