Looks like it could be an interesting event. Like to go but not in my neck of the woods:

Ditto, here. It might be kinda cool to plan our own event.

I agree, a UHH meeting would be cool. The logistics would be challenging, perhaps we could all meet at Kurt's place... ;-)

I'd love to go there-- but I'd probably have to choose somewhere cheaper-- maybe pitch a tent out by Tom's back fence?

Mike Moats? Really? He teaches close up and calls it macro. I think you would be horribly bored. Just sayin'

Bill has it correct. Both of us have exchanged e-mails with Mike Moats, requesting his opinion about the difference between "Close-Up photography" and Macro-Photography. He told us both that he does NOT distinguish between the two. He told me that if he were to emphasize true macro-photography, he would go broke, because he would have only 1/10 of his current class participation. He does NOT require students to bring a macro lens, or even extension tubes to his hands-on "conferences". From the photos of his table-top stations, you can see he encourages long lenses from a distance, which requires considerable crop post processing: http://tinylanscapes.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/img_0740.jpg
