Went down to the river this morning to play with a new lens. Fair amount of traffic in a short time. Stayed till my fingers got numb! Shot at Hudson, NY. Tugs & freighter southbound, Coast Guard headed north. The freighter is a heavy lifter. Probably loaded several G.E. steam turbines and/or generators at the Port Of Albany, as usual. All shots with a Canon 6D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS II.

Very nice set. Interesting. I'm guessing that the CG ship is breaking up the ice?

It would be, except that the ice in that part of the river is all broke up anyway. We've had the cold weather broken up by fairly mild spells so not much heavy ice has built up this year.

Thank You! Yesterday was actually fairly mild. I think the temp eventually got up near 30F. I was down there one day last week when it was -6F. Didn't stay long!

Thank You! It was cold enough! I did up the saturation a bit. Just enough to bring the color out. Gray skies didn't really help.

Very nice! I find these boats and ships fascinating. I would be down there shooting all the time....except when it was cold.
