But you might also consider a used 7dmkl if you can find one at around $500.
Depending on WHAT you will be shooting. ;-)

I will place the 7DMII on my dream list. Unfortunately, at my age and with limited income (Social Security) it is unlikely that I will ever reach that goal but dreams help keep us moving forward.

My opinion: 7D MarkII if money no issue, The original 7D (used) looking for a bargain. I had the 7D (still do actually) then upgraded to the Mark II.

I like the idea of the 7D, I have toyed with the idea of buying a used one. Of the two 70D has better image quality and less noise. 7D is a better build and features geared toward action/outdoor photography. The T3i you have is actually very good in terms of IQ. I wouldn't trade it in to move up the Rebel line. I would trade it in to move up to a 7D or 70D. Are there any specific features you want, are you in the market for better IQ, or is the T3i just flat worn out?

The T3i is reasonably new. I originally bought a T2i kit thinking that it could also do video. WRONG! lol

Then I bought the T3i body and have been happy with it but I just do not feel that my images are as sharp as I would like them to be.

I also purchased a EF-S 55-250mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM zoom to get the STM only to find out that it only works correctly with the T4i.

I feel like I am living with a real idiot. lol

Now I need to sell the T2i along with the kit zoom and I am trying to see where to go next.

Hopefully, with the help of the members here, I will stop my spiral of half baked decisions and move forward in a sensible manner.

All this for a hobby. I guess it's better than going to bars and chasing women. Those days are definitely over.

Are you sure about all of that?

There are some limitations on the video side with the T2i /T3i, but is video your primary requirement? If so, have you tried magic lantern? Many people seem to have done OK with a T2i and Magic Lantern?

On the other hand it is all a matter of perspective. When I was a young teenager my father told me something that stuck with me:

I'm thinking that my track record shows I am most likely not sure about anything. lol

I have taken great video with the T3i but the STM is not utilized to full advantage until the T4i from my understanding.

No, video is not my primary interest just a side advantage.
