Whatever happened to the idea of previsualizing a picture before you take it? Saves a lot of time later.

Does not matter much to me what you call it, photography, painting or drawing. I am a retired artist, art teacher and now an amateur photograper. To me, as a non-purist, the final image is of the greatest importance whether it be pencil, paint, mixed media or a photographic image. My personal choice at the moment is photographic imagery with absolutely no reservations about post processing. If I can get it with the camera, fine, if not, I will post process to any extent necessary for a final pleasant to view image. That is not to say, that I like over processed images and that includes HDR. I like natural looking with a bit of extra that gives emphasis to the image without over kill. I am sorry that some think we have to be a purist to call our work photography. It's all fun to me, getting equipment, shoot the shot and post processing. What ever it takes to get the look I want, totally opposite from my approach to my Christian beliefs. Besides, what is the difference whether the camera processes the image or me with software? Sorry to be so brazen, just don't want my photographic work to not be considered photography.

Huddy....only you can call your photography, photography or not photography. Beyond that one can get 10 opinions for every 2 opinions requested. After all you are the only one that needs to be pleased with your work.

pdwoodswood, I thank you for your uplifting comment that I am the only one that matters. Too bad that comment is only partially true...anyone that posts their work before others, is seeking approval for that work. Otherwise, we would keep it all to ourselves and glory in it alone. After all we are social beings. Deep down, maybe you are right...I can be a rebel and try not to care, but it is of greater pleasure to have acceptance. Thanks fellow photographer.

Acceptance is good from the right source...the trick is knowing the "right source"....being human can be complicated.
Thank You as well fellow photographer...
