I'm wondering if that is the town of Schaffhausen above the Rheinfall waterfall. Regardless, I like the use of black and white and the framing is nice. What really makes the shot for me is the long exposure that produces a silky quality to the water. Nicely done.

Thanks for looking. It's the town of Basel, on the France German border.

Thanks for the correction on the location. We used to go through Basel all the time on the way to skiing. Should have stopped and enjoyed this pretty city.

Love the smokey effect on the water. The download is incredible. Great job Ivan.

It depends on what you want the subject to be. If it is the river you are spot on but if you want the subject to also include the bridge and the city you are too far away. Too me water by itself is a poor subject and needs something else. Water itself is too monotone.

I agree with this. I'd like to see the city and bridge, so you only need a little of the water to anchor the bridge,, and bring the cityscape closer. Good control of DOF here, also.

Ivan, I really like it though I think you should lose a huge amount of the foreground - as it is the foreground is too prominent. Other than that it is a beautiful shot and the long exposure has given the water a mirror like quality.

Nice capture... it seems odd that today B&W is considered a "Special Effect" when in my day it was the "Norm"... excuse me, I am showing my age... :(

It was the norm for me as well. It was fun exposing the paper and tray developing yourself, then to watch the magic happen.

Think that's lots better. I cut my teeth on B&W, also.

Very nice. The first one is good, but the second one is even better.
