So you think YOUR job stinks!

I'm fortunate enough to get paid to do something I really enjoy. I supervise bus mechanics for the local transit authority. (going on 30 years) I often refer to it as 'herding cats'. I cant' imagine what the person in the photo thinks about his or her job!!! Of course they may be glad to have any kind of job these days.......

This person does not think about the job he/she is doing now. If that person is pennyless, and has a family to feed or a sick dependent, he/she will do anything to make a living, an honest living. And there a lot of folks where I live, dressed like the "statue of Liberty" in very cold weather trying to make a buck. I am proud of these guys who prefer an honest job rather than stealing! Yes, you are very fortunate, and wholeheartedly wish you the best. My apologies, I do not mean to offend any one, but I am kind of very sensitive in sush subjects. My apologies again.
It is a nice picture and tells a story, judging from my reaction.

No apology needed... Back in the early 80's with a new wife and a kid on the way I did whatever I had to do to take care of them. Including washing dishes at a Wyatt's cafeteria, scrapping out steel frames with a cutting torch and commercial roofing all during one of the longest string of 100 degree plus days I can remember - all for pretty much minimum wage. I saved what I could, lived in a one room efficiency and worked toward my Associate degree in diesel mechanics at the local community college at night until I was able to get on with the transit agency.
& I very much doubt if I'm the only UHH'er with this kind of story.......

I think a good point to make is that while many people have done exactly what you did, including me, there are people today who have no idea what that is like. They would rather be on the government welfare dole rather than do menial work as it is demeaning to them. To me being on welfare or food stamps would be demeaning and I would do anything to get off the government plantation. But those people have the distinct opposite viewpoint. To them menial work as we and others have done is demeaning.

Cute, ajohnston3! We have Liberty tax people around here and they have people dressed as the Statue of Liberty on the road advertising them! :)

Awesome observation.
And what I really like is each viewer sees their own version.
Very good photo.
