I use both, Mac at home PC at work. I'll take a Mac any day over PC.
OK, agreed, but what's their definition of "Extended Support"?
Sorry I forgot to quote reply... @berchman

Extended support includes security updates and online product support. Sure, everyone loves Apple support, but what do you do when your 90 day (iPhone) support or your 3 year (paid for extended support) runs out and you're 100 miles from the nearest Apple store?
Well, OK that's certainly valid argument, I have 3 of them about 15 minutes apart. Although, I've never needed them for service.
If you enjoy playing with your computer or if you want to run a program and actually do something. That is the root question I have had both. We won't go into the life expectancy. Spend the extra money, you will pay less in the long run. I may be wrong but I think they are worth it, and there is nothing wrong with a referb from Apple.
I HAVE USED PC'S BUT SWITCHED 7 YEARS AGO TO MAC BOOK PRO 15"....NEVER ONCE DID I EVER HAVE A PROBLEM..IN FACT IT WORKS SO SMOOTHLY THAT I BOUGHT A SECOND 15" THIS WEEK ,WITH THE LARGE CAPACITIES... MY NEW ONE IS AWESOME....GO FOR IT. !!

Life-long PC user here who switched to MAC about 3 years ago. Best move I ever made! I would never want to go back to PC!

I use a Dell laptop at work all day. It's an appliance.
I use an Apple laptop at home. It's like a breath of fresh air.
It's kinda like the "Why buy Adobe post-processing software?" thing. The biggest reason is that there are so many sources of good help with their software. No real need to go to Adobe for help. Same with Apple. I've read the Apple forums in attempts to find help with technical glitches in the appliances and the operating systems. EVERYONE on the forums say the same thing. "When is Apple gonna fix this?" From all appearances, they never do.
I seldom have the need to go to Microsoft for answers to technical glitches because there is assistance everywhere that gets me through the issue.
But, it's much more than this. Apple provides systems that lets you do what THEY think you want to do. For those of us who know what we want to do, we are given the path to get it done with PCs. This isn't a bad thing, and I'm not making light of the situation. There are many who choose not to delve into the inner workings of their PCs and operating systems. Apple is made for them.
Some thoughts. The older macs were hot. I always turn my Macs off when not in use. My friend is still using one of mine that is 10 years old. The operating system is the answer. I still find PC's
and all the versions after Windows 7 (I think) an awful experience. It is not HP etc who make good products it is
the craziness of the op systems with Microsoft.
I tried to improve my grandson's HP touchscreen and found
it so non intuitive to find different services like open hard drive space and where is this and that. I realize that business apps
and the world uses PC's. Managed by an army of IT techs
are necessary because they are their now. I have many Mac's
and used migration to update a small Mac laptop for my wife.
Everything was transferred perfectly.
And then their is Microsoft and it's crazy rules. Try and update
an older version operating system like from Windows 7 and
you will quit and want to just buy a new machine.
Office for the Mac. I am constantly stopped on some machines
for this 8 year old version when the machines registered with
it are gone. Get a Mac.

There are numerous Apple certified independent repair stores about the country. Our area has two such stores and they are good.

I was referring to software help, not hardware repair. I couldn't figure out why my calendar was synching from Google to iPhone, but not vice versa. They took control of my desktop and showed me. I couldn't figure out why my Google contacts were synching to iPhone contacts but my Outlook contacts were not. They figured it out. I could not find the answer to these online. So after 90 days, I'll have to pay every time I call Apple support.

That's why the extended warranty is a real, over time, bargain. I average calling Apple support at least 4 times a year to get help to solve minor issues like yours that I do not have the time, or am too lazy to take the time to figure out. In mt opinion, I've saved a ton of money using the extended support.

I have found that Apple laptops don't last as long as PC's. They run very hot and are best used with a cooling pad. On the other hand, Apple iMacs are terrific, especially for photo purposes. They are vey quiet and reliable. Just my $.02.
thats a laugh and a half they last three times as long and never run hot
Hey Wingnut. Looks like it didn't turn out to be a Nikon vs canon or Ford vs Chevy. Maybe you should go out and buy TWO Macs. LOL
