I found this tripod on B & H site. I like pan heads, I don't know why, but I do. Has anyone had any experience with these tripods? Thanks in advance for your help, as always.

I think this is the link you refer to:

Unless you have some length requirements folded up, 4 and 5 section legs are more wobbly than 3. I prefer a Pan Head as well.

Avoids having to have a special setup for Panorama. Ball Heads are more floppy than Pan Heads and you need "pan" functions for keeping the camera on a proper level for Pano overlap.

I also insist on a way to mount a hook on the bottom of the center post, to add more weight for added stability. I carry a small net shopping bag to put rock, or some other weight in at site, or hang my camera bag.

I use an Oben CC-2310-L lateral tripod for most of my work. It is steady and with the Oben BB-O ball head I can do about anything. It supports my canon 5d3 and the my biggest lens the 100-400 easily. It is steady in the wind which some small ones are not. It's not a light tripod but I have found that light is good' in some places. I will now carry the Oben when I travel since I have lost some shots because of movement you can't see until you put the image on the computer screen.

Just so you are aware the height stated will be WITH the center column fully extended, and at a 13# load rating, don't expect it to be stable with more than about 5 pounds mounted, even with the center column retracted.

Depends on the ballhead.
