I've been on a black and white kick. Always liked the works of Ansel Adams yet always had a preference for color, it just adds so much to an image. However, lately I've been playing around with converting color images to black and white and I'm liking some of them that show case high contrast and textures..

#2 has a timeless feel, and is very appealing. I downloaded and enjoyed time just browsing around in the image, to see all the details. Nice!

#3 - I tried cropping quite a bit closer to center of interest - the two women and fruit. Like it better that way :)

#1 - there are a couple of crops I tried that I liked, one that directs your eye up the incline more, and one that kind of features the ivy on wall at right.

For me, the B&W format in these shots takes away too much of the vibrancy of the scenes. Number 1 just looks flat and uninteresting.
For me, I think they'd be better in colour.

Thanks Linda, I'll have to get back in there and play around a bit more with crops! Feel free to post any enhancements, I'd love to see them!

Yes, color adds so much to an image! Just curious though did you look at the download version or just the thumbnail shown?

Admittedly I had just looked at the thumbnail originally. I looked at the downloads just now and I agree they are much better that way. Even so, I still feel the market scene especially is losing too much because of the B&W treatment.

Ol' Frank Loc: Orlando,

Isn't it amazing how just a few short years ago we had B/W photos and thought how great it would be to see this in color. Now we mostly have color and wonder how this would look in B/W. Life for a photographer is still interesting even after over 60 years of playing with images.

Nice B&W's! Check out Hotshoe.org "the new home for B&W Photography". They have some amazing b&w's there.

Nice images, Lloyd. I like B/W as well.

Check out Clyde Butcher's work in B/W photography. He's the Ansel Adams of the Everglades. Gregoryd45 turned me on to his work.
