I am considering a Sigma lens 18-250. All the reviews I have read from a variety of sources mention lens creep. Have any of you, who own this lens, had an issue with lens creep. Thanks in advance.

Yep, owned it and sold it. Then I purchased a Tamron 16-300mm with better range, NO lens creep whatsoever (in fact it feels just a little tight, but I've never been bothered by that), and equally good IQ. It stays on my Canon 7D most of the time now.

I was initially happy with the versatility of the lens, based on price and focal range.

Did notice a bit of lens creep though I didn't use it that way that often. A different issue that happened a lot was I'd be composing hand-held, and then when I focused, the lens would drop, I guess from the weight of the extended barrel?

I recently decided to go with a Canon EF-S 18-135, since I wasn't using much more than that with the Sigma anyway (for landscapes) -- and it turns out the Canon is so much sharper! Am loving it.

You might be interested in this video review of the 16-300. While it has the expected deficiencies of any super zoom its a great choice for a do it all lens for those who are not super critical about softness or lens distortion. Among my lenses I have the Tamron 18-270. PZD. This new Tamron seems to better it except perhaps in the area of chromatic aberration.

Thanks for all your input, I knew I could count on you. I have ordered a Sigma 18-200mm lens from B & H. This lens will be used mostly for walk around, specifically for a trip to NYC when it warms up a little, lol. Happy New Year to all.

Had the 18-250 and it would creep under the right conditions. Recently moved to the Sigma 18-300 and it has no creep at all. Enjoy your new purchase...

Lens creep for sure.... placed a rubber type slip on wrist band around the lens to keep it from creeping. It does the job, the lens is great for a walk around lens. But if purchasing from the get go I would purchase the Sigma 18-300 and have no fear of the dreaded lens creep! Take this reply for what it's worth...... just the way I would go. Good luck with whatever lens you decide on.
