To my golfer friends.
A Happy New Year to one and all
In My Hand I Hold A Ball, White
And Dimpled, Rather Small.
Oh, How Bland It Does Appear,
This Harmless Looking Little Sphere.
By Its Size I Could Not Guess,
The Awesome Strength It Does Possess.
But Since I Fell Beneath Its Spell,
I've Wandered Through The Fires Of Hell.
My Life Has Not Been Quite The Same,
Since I Chose To Play This Stupid Game.
It Rules My Mind For Hours On End,
A Fortune It Has Made Me Spend.
It Has Made Me Yell, Curse And Cry.
I Hate Myself And Want To Die.
It Promises A Thing Called Par,
If I Can Hit It straight And Far.
To Master Such A Tiny Ball,
Should Not Be Very Hard At All.
But My Desires The Ball Refuses,
And Does Exactly As It Chooses.
It Hooks And Slices, Dribbles And Dies,
And Even Disappears Before My Eyes.
Often It Will Have A Whim,
To Hit A Tree Or Take A Swim.
With Miles Of Grass On Which To Land,
It Finds A Tiny Patch Of Sand.
Then has Me Offering Up My Soul,
If Only It Would Find The Hole.
It's Made Me Whimper Like A Pup,
And Swear That I Will Give It Up.
And Take To Drink To Ease My Sorrow,
But The Ball Knows .... I'll Be Back Tomorrow.
A recent study found the average golfer
walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study found golfers drink, on average,
22 gallons of alcohol a Year.
That means, on average,/golfers
get about 41miles to the gallon.
Kind of makes you proud.
Makes you almost feel like a hybrid.
It is a love/hate relationship Brian. You know the definition
of crazy, it is doing something over and over again hoping
the outcome will be different, No, it never was for me.

I think snooker can be as frustrating at times.
Not nearly as frustrating as golf, trust me, I played a lot of
snooker back in the early 60s, I got pretty good at it, never
got good at golf.

You can say that again Ebbote. Wonderful when everything is going right but, on an off day,

I used to love that game but you seldom see a full sized snooker table around here. The American pool table is smaller and, to me, not as challenging as snooker. :-D
Have you ever noticed how many sets of golf clubs are for sale from individuals. Also all that fancy overpriced gym equipment. It's rare that you see someone trying to sell a really nice big beer cooler.
  I will be sending on .

That is true, now that I think about it.

Due to knee, hip, and back problems, I have to ride a cart and use a handicap flag which (generally) allows me to park close to where the ball has been hit to reduce the distance I have to walk. Around greens, the rules usually say to stay at least 30-feet away from the edge of the green (sometimes further depending upon terrain and wet ground conditions. I find the greatest challenges to be walking to and from the greens because, with mishit chips, putts occasionally hit too long, etc., it can sometimes turn into a real adventure.
I also started wearing a podometer to see how far I actually walked on a typical 18-hole course, riding in a cart with a handicapped flag. It's usually between 1 & 1 1/4 miles. And when you have bad knees and hips that's still pretty good exercise.
