Has anyone actually had a problem? I shoot on federal property all the time. The Rangers in Canyonlands actually mapped out the best times to be at certain views for the best pictures. The Rangers at Arches actually were out showing some people the best spots to shoot from.
I've heard of proposed fees but have never actually run into a problem, yet. Liberal politics will try to sap money anyway it can though.
Mesa Arch Canyonlands 10/2014
Sounds like a sensible bill to me. I always feel leary when I'm on government lands about taking pictures. I see it was introduced last Friday. So we'll have to wait to see how far it goes. I hope it passes.
Looks like the link is just like congress. Only half functional.

I have had only good experiences too.
Not sure if this is actually a problem or if folks
are just worried about it happening in the future.
After all, we all need something to worry about.

The bill addresses federal officers and private contractors:
Prohibition on the Seizure and Forfeiture of Photographic
Equipment.--Federal law enforcement officers or private contractors
shall not seize any photographic equipment or their contents or memory
cards or film, and shall not order a photographer to erase the contents
of a camera or memory card or film.
No mention of non-federal law enforcement...
Need to watch this very closely.
I have never had any problems taking photographs on Federal land. However, If the observations of Congress cited in the proposed bill are accurate then this definitely has my support.

There is always some assh--- trying to blame this on liberals.
Although I personally have never had a problem, I do see the potential for an abuse of power by certain government agencies. I just sent an e-mail to my congressman (Aaron Shock, R, Peoria, IL). Perhaps this is something small that the new Republican majority can actually pass and make Law.

I know a nice little place of Las Vegas in a dry Lake bed that might cause you to problem or two.

Yup. I don't have any vacation photo trips planned there. Hah!!
The last time I was in Vegas I saw a brochere about tours to there. I'm not sure if they were for real or just some scam to trap "tourists".
Oorah! Please watch and post any information and list the officials who support and oppose. As soon as this passes write to your respective state reps, requesting inclusion in each state and providence Constitution. Please - Actually write each now, US and State
