Thinking about switching from Nations Photo Lab. What is your favorite on-line service for 16"x20" & larger prints?

Sign up for mpix. Add a few items to your cart but don't order. They'll usually send you a coupon in a couple of days for 10-15% off an order.

You guys must have one heck of a big printer.

I use Costco and I'm pretty happy with it, but
many of my friends use "Bay photo" like
Cdouthitt does and they say it's better quality.

I have a local camera shop that I've worked with for years. They understand what Inwant and I know the printer they use and papers. They use the correct icc and the results are usually spot on. If I see a problem they reprint for free.

For kicks I use Bay Photo metallic prints. Pretty neat process, however, the print may vary slightly from the file. They would also likely do regular prints well

A, I have used Bay Photo on occasion when I've had to go larger than I can print. I have also used The Lightroom in Emeryville, Ca for special custom prints. But both are pretty far from you.
I would look for a good source that is fairly local. That can save a lot of either time or a lot of postage or both.
Custom printers are pretty expensive(Bay and Nations are not custom printers) but there may be one local to you.
There is of course Costco which is pretty good if you only need two kinds of paper. Good luck. ;-)

I like my prints. So do my customers. They like the premium media, and profiles I use, and are willing to pay for it.
Costco prints are nice, if you're not comparing them to a profiled printer, on premium media.

It was a sad day in our office when our 42" hp5500 uv finally died, and we decided to not replace it...now I have to outsource. Blah.

I have a 24" and a 42" printer. Best way to actually get the results YOU want. And no waiting either.

Inkjet on fine art paper, chromogenic silver, canvas or metal?

If it is silver - Bay Photo, Adorama, White House Custom Color, Mpix, Costco all do a decent job and all have great customer service in that if they mess up a print (it happens) they will correct it and ship out a new one overnight. Costco is the cheapest but only offers a limited range of sizes. Miller's (parent of Mpix) does outstanding custom printing, but are more expensive.

I always use MPix (Miller's) because they are close, and ship same day FedEx or I can pick the prints up myself. Not as cheap as some, but you get what you pay for.
