Hello Everyone, I have been in the background for a couple of weeks now. I have enjoyed your posts, ideas, pics, and introductions. I finally decided to actually join this group. I'm a transplant from Washington State. I have lived in SC for 3 years now. I love the sun, yes, I actually see it! Anyway, this year I decided to dig out my old Nikon D80, and learn to use the settings other than auto. Lately I have read on the internet and some library books on f stop, shutter speed and ISO, maybe some day I will figure out how they all work! LOL! The pictures I like to take most are of nature. I would like to learn how to take good pics of city structures and some portraits. Look forward to getting to know all of you! Charlene T

Hi Charlene T,
Welcome to the Force...You have entered an addictive land of truths, myths, fantasies, ghosts, goblins and good old fashioned advice (whether you want it or not)...
Seriously though - the folks here have lots of good advice and a couple of days of experience and are willing share what they can - don't hesitate to ask detailed questions, in fact, the more details, the more accurate the answer ;)
A couple of links to help you
navigate the forum and a couple of
resources to hopefully answer your questions or guide you in your quest...
Looking forward to seeing some photos.
Welcome to the family. A book highly recommended by folks on this site is "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson.
Don't worry about figuring it out all at once; enjoy your journey through this joyous hobby!

Welcome to SC from the Upstate.
Greetings Charlene, and welcome to the UHH.
Welcome and enjoy. I just returned from visiting relatives and friends there in Summerton and Orangeburg. Relatives moved there from Port Angeles, WA but spend every summer here in MN or WI.
Welcome to the Forum Charlene, I had a D80 that I gave to
my daughter a few years back, very good camera.
