To be somewhat serious, where would such a generator be used?

I tried one but only got half a charge on a full frame body. :(

OK...saying up late at night with a bottle of wine (or scotch) on E-Bay is probably NOT a good idea!

I have bought many of the cheapo E-Bay "Close before striking battery and dentistry shop" batts for 1/10th the cost of branded (must have a dozen each for a D3100, D90, T2i) and all have performed identically to OEM (perhaps a little less capacity, but not enough to trade your first born for!)

On Pentaxes and Nikon D800E

With 3 DSLR's I have 4 backup batteries, all of them Wasabi brand, less than half the price of Nikons. They look identical except for labeling, fit the same, charge in the Nikon chargers, have slightly higher power, and I've never had a problem or failure in 2 1/2 years. I can't tell without looking which brand is in the camera.

Oh, one difference. They've saved me about a hundred bucks.

Ditto on the Wasabi batteries. I've been using them in my Canons and have had great success with them on top of saving a bunch of money.

I agree with all those that said "be careful". Had one "inexpensive" battery swell up after being charged so much it would not fit in the camera. Was on a long, middle of nowhere photo trip and down a battery.

Interesting...
So you brought a very long extension cord?

Or a cheap solar charger that over charged the battery too fast and nearly burned it up.

All of the chargers I use have temperature monitoring, and go into a trickle charge mode to polish off the charge.

I like Wasabi.
I put it on Susi on those very rare occasions I eat it.

My husband and I have used third party batteries as backups for all our cameras for many years with none of the problems I've read about - shortened life being one. We shop Amazon and pay attention to retailer ratings. You can get cheaper off of EBay, but I'd rather pay a few dollars more and know I'm getting it from a reputable supplier.

I hope you don't mix it in with Soy Sauce in a small bowl and dip your Sushi in it. That's a slap in the face to a Sushi Chef.

I have heard that some of the Canon cameras will not read the replacement battery. I have not heard they same about Nikon. I so wish I could find the article that I read.

Same subject - different manufacturer - Sony.
My A77 will read a different manufacture's battery but my Sony grip will not. Solution? Two Sony batteries for the grip and a cheap cloned battery for the times I don't use the grip.

Could this thread possibly be degenerating into a standup comedy routine. I admit I'm guilty as charged. "Who's on first?"

Ok so I have a Canon 7D. I need to purchase a couple of new or backup batteries for it. Now I'm thinking that their are only a couple or so manufactures that make batteries in the world. So the question is other than price is there really ant difference in batteries. I see the one I need from $16.00- $80.00 for what looks like the same batterie. What is your guys input on this? I can buy 5 of one kind for the price of 1 of the others. Thanks for your thoughts.
