Hi guys.
I just upgraded my old good Olympus e510 for a Nikon d3200, and I was wondering how much should I pay for a flash that won't break the bank.
Should I get a new one? Or an used one could do the job?
Mostly I need it to avoid underesposure inside, and ugly shadows outside on sunny days.
Which one you guys would recomend me?
Thanks!

Hi!
When I decided to get an off-camera flash unit, I decided on a
Yongnuo 560 IV.I was faced with your same dismays.
I used my new 560 IV as an off-camera (tripod mounted) Flash-Fired Slave (S1) to bounce light from the ceiling at the Daughters Family and Friends Christmas Eve Party.
It worked much better than I hoped.
My camera fired it every time, and none of the phone cameras flashes ever fired it that I could tell.
If radio controlled, I imagine things might be even better. But it is hard for me to see how. The slave mode worked beautifully right from the start.
Whatcha think?
I liked how I got no back shadows, yet the pop up flash lit up the ornaments.
The slave was on the 2nd story balcony, aimed across the ceiling.
PS: At the price of new, why buy used? (You never know how used used is.)
Bright ornaments, back lighted wall.

I like the Nikon SB-500 for the D3000 and D5000 series Nikons because it is pretty much designed just for them. Its only $249 brand new, and also has a video light for those times you might want to shoot videos with that very capable camera.
Thank guys, I will follow your advise.
SB 400....small and doesn't add bulk to the camera.....excellent flash with TTL operation.

I recently bought the Neewer VK750 II i-TTL Speedlite Flash off Amazon for $62.63. Works great with my d3200 with a Tamron 18-270 zoom lens. ( No lens shadows, etc. )

I have 2 Nikon SB 600 flashes, an SB 800 and two Metz 54 MZ4i's with the SCA 3000 modules for iTTL. All I use on my Nikons are Nikons or Metz's.
On my Leica's it's the SF 24D, SF 58 or Metz's. On my Canon's (All older A-1 or F-1's I only use Canon flashes. For my Fuji's it's Fuji 20 or 48 models for ttl. Now on my Petri's, Miranda's and Kiev's, it's whatever has a low voltage trigger.
I recommend the new Nikon SB-500 or a refurbished SB-600. Both are good Nikon flashes and relatively inexpensive. Both tilt and swivel for bounce flash. That's a simple fully auto technique where you bounce the light from the flash off of a white ceiling or wall. It produces a much nicer more natural light than direct flash on camera.
Hey, I just saw an sb-600 in the local ads, and the reviews online are good.
I think I found my new flash.
Thanks everybody!
