Cleaning out attic and found my two old slide projectors and 28 empty carousels. Are they worth anything? and to whom? I digitized all the good slides and threw out the rest. Thinking of throwing out the carousels but I don't even know how to recycle them.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Offer them to a school & be prepared to be laughed out of the building. Good Will might take them.
Have same issue. Have over 50 trays, 3 projectors, chief stand, MP3 computer for shows and a Tiffin recorder.
Find some local old farts' camera club that needs them.
I still have a Kodak Ektagraphic III slide projector and an Apollo zoom lens --- state of the art in 1984. I use it about once a year to remind myself how cool Kodachrome really was!

Easily worth as much as my 1975 Rollei Auto Focus.

I recycle things through the Goodwill of America.
They can usually find somebody interested in old crap for nostalgic purposes.
My last dump was outdated computer junk and 3 1/2" floppies. ;)
On pretty much the same subject, is there a cheap way to turn the slides into picures? I've got 5 old trays full of slides from my in-laws after we cleaned out their house. I would like to get them converted for the wife and her brother.

Take them to Costco for scanning. You can pick up some free boxes from them first.

Beside that, you can take a tax deduction!

Try contacting local Masonic lodges and see if they can use them. Some might still use them to present lectures to their candidates .

One word: Goodwill. Believe it or not, they will sell them for something and apply the money to their good works.

And if they don't sell, Goodwill is very active in the recycling of electronics.

Do not know how old you are and sad the slides were disposed of. Did you keep the ones digitized?
I have had fun with children, neices, nephews and grandchildren showing slides on aprojector in a darkened room on a screen. I also have an old original 16mm Porky Pig movie and several 16mm home movies from my grandfather. The kids really enjoy the old time atmosphere with pop corn and sodas. The sounds of the carousel or the 16mm projector is something different than a tablet and easier for all to enjoy.
Just think another 30 years and how these ancient relics might really become the new retro way to view pictures made digitally then slides made of them.
Don't laugh, it could happen.
Same here Ken, three projectors and 20+ carousels. A lot of B&W, slides and color film. I am looking for a Nikon scanner to convert 85,000 slides to digital. Anyone have any ideas? Don't want to go through a commercial house.
