Everything goes in cycles and I'm guessing the gun or ant-gun threads are reflective of that also. The Christmas holiday has come and gone for another year and no doubt that for some gun(s) of some sort were gifted.

I can remember as a child getting my first cap pistol and shooting off a roll of caps, that is until I "discovered" that a hammer and a step n tow bumper worked even better. Instead of one cap at a time you could blow the whole roll!

By now we have all seen somewhere or another the story of the Cleveland 12 year old boy shot by police.

http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/11/cleveland_police_officer_shoot_6.html#incart_story_package

The boy in question, one 12 year old Tamir Rice, 5'7", 195 lbs. I think the mention of the height and weight are important here as Tamir, at only 12 years of age, is roughly the size of an average man. The Cleveland police receive a call regarding someone waving a gun at a playground. Within seconds of arriving at the playground Tamir is shot. I'll stop there. I am not passing judgement either way on the policeman involved in the shooting. It is horribly tragic that anyone's child is dead from holding a plastic pellet gun.

However, this is a picture of the gun involved. Notice that the orange tip has been removed.

I'm the furthest thing from a gun expert but I'd say that that looked fairly realistic. That's just my opinion and I'm not asking anyone to agree with it.

This is what policemen see.

And given a moment, I am fairly sure I can tell the difference (left = BB, right = you're toast).

I think the folks that have been squawking the last week or two (or forever) about gun control need to do something about TOY GUN CONTROL. A pellet gun or a toy gun does not need to look like a Glock, a Beretta, or any other known brand of gun. Real guns are not toys. There is no way that orange tip should be able to be removed without destroying the pellet gun. The pellet gun should be a different color. Hell make the whole damned thing orange. The geometry does not need to mimic a real gun...make it look like a super soaker or something that won't ever be confused with the real thing.

And for the folks that want to go after 2nd amendment rights due to this tragedy, it will never happen. Go spend your hatred and energy somewhere else.

Gang bangers will start painting the tips of their real guns orange. This kid would have had a real gun if he could have gotten his hands on one. Just another wanna be who, thank goodness. Didn't make it to that level.
And BTW, since when did race trump height, weight and the guy has a gun? Hmm?

I only put that in there to demonstrate that at first blush he would have appeared to be a man and not a 12 year old. Hell, when I got married at 25 I was 5'10" and 188lbs.

This post is about Idaholover not to him.
Here is a quote from his post.

"This kid would have had a real gun if he could have gotten his hands on one. Just another wanna be who, thank goodness. Didn't make it to that level."

If this isn't r****t what is? What in the story would lead a normal thinking person to this conclusion?

Blowing the whole roll with a sledge hammer will make your ears ring….

The real problem with the realistic play guns is the fact that too often, cops patrolling those neighborhoods see children who do have the real thing, are using them, are committing crimes, and 98% from a certain demographic - not necessarily a color. So if you are in a neighborhood that experiences a lot of gun crime, and send your kid out with an airsoft gun to play in the park by pointing it at people, or if you are a kid who doesn't realize that somebody might ( and did) mistake it for real, from reports it was part of his "play"… well kids make stupid life-ending decisions every day. This was an example of Darwin's cruel theory at work.

We had all sorts of toy guns.. some very realistic, and in fact, we all had access to real ones! Every single one of my playmates- right on racks in every house. They were right there… they never came out in play- ever. Never crossed my or any of my friends mind! We played with all the same neighborhood kids with the toy ones, but I can't imagine if police had stopped, that we would have menaced them in any way with them, we would have followed directions immediately… in fact from any adult. But you see, the same demographic where this happened, has been taught that nobody of authority is to be respected … teachers, adults, store owners… especially police.. nobody! If he raised his hands a said "don't shoot" he would't have been shot.

If he had road flares strapped with wires and an alarm clock, he would have been treated a certain way as well…duh.

I feel for the cop because he had only one decision.. and that moment after the fact, when he picked up the weapon…only then discovered the situation and the vertigo inducing realization rushing over him at all the second guessing that would come from it… must have knocked him mentally over.. now he has to live with the fact that he was the first one to arrive at the tail end of a long series of cluster-f#$%k events… from the dispatcher failing to mention the fact that the reports were they it might be a toy… all he heard was that it was a weapon, to the i***t decisions on the kids and his "parents" part - even removing the orange tip…. - I expect they will seek to cash in.

I think it is about time that we recognize the fact that our boy Thom an his race baiting friends are indeed the true r****ts here. They have nothing but accusations and h**e speech for anyone who is not a minority.

Then what did you mean by that statement. Why did you say what you said? It wasn't in defense of the officer. This post wasn't about whether or not what the officer did was right and nobody here has attacked him so what was your meaning? Why are you saying it is a good thing the kid was k**led when he was?

Thom is the poster child for what is happening to the America we once knew, the America that was respected by the rest of the world, the America whose people were the most productive and generous in the world.

If that "Soviet-c*******tic attitude" could be dumped by the left, those days would be recaptured.
