Here is my very weak attempt at an Ansel Adams composition. Although still learning the conversion process to B&W I can see the impact some photos have when displayed this way. Although the colors are awesome in Sedona, the B&W photos make me look at the contrast and detail without distraction.

Think you need to seriously increase the contrast on these before conversion. Ol' Ansel always had some true blacks and whites in his images. Not sure what happened to the sky but it has a very muddy appearance in both shots.
Spectacular countryside and I reckon these could be excellent. What BW conversion software do you use?

Nick, I too love Ansel's work, but failing to tick 'store original' means we cannot see your work in all it's glory.
We are asked to make a judgement from not-so-good cut downs of your work. This could have been so good,
