I found this online while consoling myself because my planned trip to YNP this weekend had to be cancelled last minute.
Be sure to watch full screen with your speaker volume up.

I'm surprised there were so many shooting stars. Nighttime time-lapse always has a few, but this had loads of them.

Hi Jerry, yes I thought the same thing. But can you imagine how the sky would have looked if this time-lapse had been created when the Perseids were blazing the sky last summer? WOW!

Also enjoyed the "how they did it" video too. Dedication and passion must keep you warm at 15 degrees!

On the top of Mauna Kea in Hawaii, there are several huge telescopes, including the Subaru telescope, built by the Japanese. Why "Subaru"? In Japanese, subaru means perseids. That's why the emblem for the car consists of stars. At least that's what the guide told us.

Great video and documentary about how it was made. The scenes with people climbing the granite faces was astounding. JerryC41, I could be wrong, but Ihave a feeling that those shooting stars were planes on their flight paths. Went to Yosemite last year, and this video really makes me want to go back. Sorry your trip didn't pan out, but maybe you'll get to go soon.

Ah, yes, planes. Of course.

I bet you moved from Kansas to NC because of the tornadoes, right? I mean, after your neice and her little dog Toto had that frightening experience.

Jerry - no need to move - we have tornados right here, besides, I have been told that I am my own tornado. :-)
