So it looked liked there would good sunset so I decided that it was time for a new venue as I had been to the old one for last three sunsets so headed into town to Hagley park to the public golf course and went looking for a suitable spot and when I found it set the camera up on the tripod eventually with camera as low to the ground as possible, (pretty low as tripod is a Vanguard) First shots were HDR as I was looking into direct sun then I realised that I should turn around and see what was behind me got this great shot which I converted to black and white then I turned around again and got this shot of the tree with sunset happening behind it and then after the sun had gone below the trees I got these next two shots

You live in a surreal place to start with altheman!
Then your pictures are good too....like that first one into the sun....dunno if it's the lens flare that produced the double sundog but that is cool!

Absolutely stunning my friend! Thanks very much for sharing. The shot of the sun through the tree is truly a prize! But one thing... With all that turning you must have gotten dizzy.

Thanks for the great shots - I used to ride thru Hagley Park every day going to high school and then to the Uni - it is a magnificent park and I surely do it miss it so appreciate seeing it again.

Great shots. The backlit needles on the tree in no. 3 are surreal. Congratulations of handling a great opportunity with finesse.

Back lighting is tricky, you mastered it!! Well composed, beautiful images. I agree with you, the monochrome is breath taking. Thanks for allowing us to download and really enjoy your pictures.

Beautiful shots all but the HDR with the wide angle just grabs me.
