Is there one source for photo definitions?

I am new to photography and have been looking for a source that will define the new vocabulary associated with photography. Is there a dictionary, either electronic or paper based out there? Thanks!

There are probably hundreds, but this is a really good start for a beginner:

Look for the Focal Encyclopedia of Photography. Most people agree that the 3rd edition is the best.

Try also http://www.rogerandfrances.com/subscription/ps%20glossary.html but ignore all references to paid and free modules: the whole site is free now, though (of course) we welcome donations and we do sell e-books (http://www.rogerandfrances.com/e-books.html )

Cheers,

R.

Roger, notice there is no reference to HDR (High Dynamic Range). Just thought throw that out there. Thanks.

Yeah, that page in 5 years old, add there's a lot of stuff to add, though equally, a lot of the basics are covered. In fact, I've just started updating it. That's a prize candidate. Thanks!

Cheers,

R.
