The use of mirrors

I love to snap pictures of brides in mirrors. You have a frame inside of a frame and in some cases you can get triple frames. Here are a few examples taken from a few weddings I snapped this year, my first year of still wedding photography ........

All pictures were taken in natural light and I had to push the ISO to keep acceptable shutter speeds, thus the focus isn't the best but never less I caught the candid moments.

Always good to catch mom and daughter together getting the last touches in before the big event ........

These pictures are for suggestion purposes only not necessary to critique ;)

Nice shots. I, too, like the mirror shots. I take a mirror with me and place it on a stand before the girls start getting ready so that they have an extra mirror to use (sometime the only mirror) while they are getting ready. Then I have it for bride, bride and girls , or bride and mom shots, etc.

I always try to do the mirror shot too, but am really impressed with the second shot. That turned out beautifully. (others are nice, but as someone who's failed miserably at trying to get a really nice mirror shot in a small mirror, my hat is off to you!

Ah, come on. I wouldn't say it was luck. Think about it, how many "snappers" would have "seen" the shot? You should give yourself a lot of credit. I actually am a bit jealous, after 30 years (This year makes like 32 actual years, but who's counting) I still don't have any mirror shots that catch my eye like #2 did.

I can't find a smiley of "embarrassment" ........

As they say, "It's better to be lucky than good" but I have found that often luck is simply experience running face first into opportunity.

I too love mirror images and I will also add my appreciation for number 2. I am attaching a fun image that kind of happened this last June. I brought the mirror and like I said the group had some fun with it.

I could have been staged in a better part of the room, but as you know wedding activity happens fast and you just try to steer the activity into some good opportunities and snap fast. This group was great allowing me to try different things.

I am going to try to condition myself to check this forum more often. It could be a great opportunity for new wedding photographers to learn from each other.
