Went out to photograph eagles but the gulls outnumbered the eagles. Shot with a Canon 7D using a 300mm f/2.8 with a 1.4 TC at 1/1600 sec, f/6.3 and ISO 200 at about 100 ft on Lake CdA ID.

Nice shot and I agree, sometimes you make the best of what is available with what you have available. :)

Thanks Sherman, the gull came strait out of camera blue, the gulls were flying in the shade. Half the fun for me when I switched to digital was learning to use all the software. Have A Happy New Year and keep shooting...Ron

Thanks rlaugh, it's been slow going this year with the eagles. The high today will be about +17 with the wind out of the north but time is running out sa the eagles will soon move on to the south. It looks like you know all about that. Have A Happy New Year...Ron

Thanks Cwilson, I had a cat that looked just like yours, miss him, they sure are independent critters. The gulls are much smaller then the eagles but I was able to get at least half the frame filled with that one. Will try again today, Have A Happy New Year...Ron

Thanks ebbote, I try to keep an open eye while out shooting as you may miss one thing while looking for another. The best to you and yours on this the first day of 2015...Ron

Nice shot! Not as spectacular as the eagles but really pretty birds and excellent little fishers! True, they outnumber the eagles and seem to be out fishing all the time :)
