This shot used HDR techniques on the moon to deal with the extreme range of darks to lights, and it seems to have had a very positive impact.
A normal image of the moon has a bright area that approaches saturation and dark areas in which no detail can be pulled out. With HDR, detail in both extremes was brought out. This exercise only was done with a single image. Perhaps it needs to be further attempted with multiple images to possibly improve it more.
When I enlarge the shot it looks a bit over sharpened for my taste.
Makes me want to get back into night sky photography.
On a side note......if you head down Diana Ave (from the tracks there in Morgan Hill) you will find a James Lex Ln. on the right side. My folks named the street after me when they built the homes there. There are 4 or 5 other streets in town named after other family members.
