I shot the Waxing Moon last night at 46.3%. I got a little piggish and missed the upper corner of the moon in this shot, but was my best shot overall from last night.
Set-Up: Canon 7D, Tamron 150-600mm lens, Kenko 1.4X and 2.0X extenders stacked. Flashpoint F1428N Tripod, NEST Gimbal head (thanks Carter), with remote release cable and Aim Red Dot Reflex Sight (thanks BruceW29).
1/15th sec., f6.3, ISO 160, Focal length 550mm (2464mm equiv.).
The image was sharpened and cropped. Processed with a little Topaz Silver Efex 2.0 , Gary
Nice sharp image! Not overprocessed!
Very nice Gary the 550mm seems to be a real sweet spot for you.

Craig, Thank you. I had to back off a little to get the moon in the frame, and probably 500mm would have been better. Looking forward to trying Orion nebula and Jupiter next year. Gary
Very nice capture Gary...

Thank you Bruce, are you doing well? I have not seen much activity from you lately, or is it the weather. I heard you got 5-7 inches last night. Gary

Hi Gary, yes the weather here has been very cold here and we have had a lot of snow too. but we have been luckier than our neighbors on the east coast. where we have have many inches of snow this winter they have had many feet of snow!
I haven't been getting out to take very many photos due to the weather. I have recently posted several of my better photos in one large post. If you get a chance take a look, the post includes some new shots as well as some archive shots.
