I have the Manfrotto 222. I have had it for more than a year now. Other then the weight I love it. It is tight and keeps the camera just where I put it as far as tilt or portrait. I'm glad I got this instead of one that was called The Pistol Grip. This looks more sturdy.

The 322RC2 is a light capacity horizontal pistol grip head. It is a spring-loaded variation on the ball head design and can be revered from right hand to left hand design by putting the QR mount on the other side. You can also add another mount to the end of the grip and turn it vertical so it operates similar to the original Bogen 3265 design pistol grip.
Tension can be adjusted via a large nut at the front of the grip, and a red slider indicator on the back of the grip lets you see how much tension is currently applied.
They are handy for general purpose photography with standard lenses but do not have enough spring tension to handle longer telephoto lenses.

I also have one. A agree with MT Shooter (description). Though I now feel that I should have spent more and opted for the next "heavier" model "Pistol Grip" head. I also have a Manfrotto Pan (tri-axial) Head to use with the same Legs (190XPRO). And also wish I had the next model up.

I guess I am rather spoiled in that I have an older Gitzo tripod and head that is built like a tank and is MUCH more stable but functionally old fashioned.

I had one and it works great with a lighter camera and lens combo( as in D90 and 24-70) but they will not handle too much weight. I also did not like the lack of panning ability. Once you squeeze the handle you have X,Y and Z all at once. Over all it's a decent head for the lighter work but it depends on what you plan on using them for. Some do things better than others.
