I have been wanting a wide-angle lense but wanted to stay away from a fish-eye as I don't like the effects. I researched the heck out of it and this lense got high or higher marks than the comparable Nikon and at $699 new I ordered it. Their glass is made by Hoya. If you believe Ken Rockwell he swears by it. The lense is a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX Digital Zoom Lens for Nikon. I would appreciate reviews.
Thanks....Randy

This will be my next lens. I have seen some pretty awesome shots on here with it. Send it over to me and I will test it for you! :-D I do think you made the right move on this though. Put up a few shots when he get it.

I read Rockwells reviews of this and comparable WA zooms a year or so ago. If I didn't already have one this is what I would order. I have 2 Tokina AT-X PRO model lenses and they are great, a 100-300 F4 and a 28-70 F2.6.
sounds like yoou have read plenty of reviews already.get out there and take a bunch of shots and"show us the photos".
the rime for reviews is BEFORE you buy a lens, not after.
Well, since you have already ordered it, why not use it and review it yourself? (Its a fine lens)
Sorry...just wanted your opinions..

It was just a tongue in cheek reply on my part, no need to be sorry. You will find that lens to be a great one, one of the better crop sensor landscape lenses around. I think you will like it a lot.....

thanks for all the input. a friend is on the fence about buying this lens so i hope this will put him over the line.
I have a Tokina 12-24. If that is anything like mine, you'll love it. yours seems a little better. Faster anyway.
I do have the 11 - 16mm Tokina and really like it
It is solid, fast ( F2.8 at all lengths )and has very little annoying chromatic aberration or distortion,
I recommend it

Yes, that 12-24 is a nice lens.

I also have the Tokina 12-24 - - it's MY go-to lens for wide angle on my Canon 7D. I'm sure you'll be quite happy with their 11-16.

Because the folks at Apple didn't think that was a necessary part of your customer experience - -
