I would certainly like to see more of your views when you have a chance to get back there. And if it's possible to get on the other side of the wooden gate/fence without trespassing, you might find some more great angles.

No problem finding stone walls here; there are a gazillion!

Need feedback on these two shots. Mostly concerned about composition. Need to work on that before I get to photoshop. Thanks in advance.

I agree, a little less of the right side post. I might have stood closer to the wood frame so more of the back ground shows through.

The second is just fine... since composition.

Sorry, I don't know what you are trying to show - I guess I don't see a point of interest or a story so I can't really say if you acheived it or not.

I was trying to achieve a pastoral scene, but it fell flat.

Played with #2 in B&W and it looks pretty nice---might want to give that a try to see a different perspective.....

That is interesting. Wish I had more depth of field in the photo.
Thanks for doing that. It really does create a different mood.

All very nice. On the first one, maybe a little less post on the right side. I like the second one. I would add a little more contrast to make them pop more.

Can you explain "contrast", please :D How do you get more contrast on the camera?

I apply my contrast PP. I have a button where I can have auto contrast which I usually hit for every photo. Sometines I like what it does and sometimes I don't but I have the option to keep it or go back to the photo untouched. I also like to hit it at the end of my editing. Many times there will be no change but many times it makes a big difference. I also have slide controls for color balance, shadows, highlight and fill light which can be adjusted for better contrast. It's possible some cameras may have them but I don't know about that---do all of mine PP. If you are asking what "contrast" itself is, it's the difference of adjacent parts of the photo in color, tone or brightness. It's one of the components that help add that "POP" that is talked about, or lack there of. I hope I answered your question. If you don't have a PP program you can get one that has all these controls and much more for free. Picasa is the one I use and recommend it for those who are just beginning PP work. Just google Picasa.com, download it and let the fun begin........

I know what contrast is. I was thinking you were talking about "on camera" and not PP. I adjust my pics on my computer. Sometimes, contrast can make pics too bright or look blurry. Sometimes to adjust the contrast can, like you said, make your shot "pop". Thank you for your advice . :-D

This is not a technical evaluation it's just how me as a viewer feels about the photos. Number 2 has those leading lines that draw you into the photo very welcoming. Number 1 while a good photo has that mental thing that says keep out, the fence gate is there to block you. It doesn't pull you into the scene.
