I initiated this sub-forum and then did little to promote or participate.
Let's not let it die.
I am interested in hearing your ideas for promoting it and getting more UHH forum members to contribute.
One idea I have, is to have a monthly contest. That could be posted along with the still photography contest that runs more frequently. I would also post as a general topic heading in the photography section.
Suggested starting date would be January. I'll develop more "rules" after I hear feedback, which I certainly hope is forthcoming.
Suggested topic for the first "contest" or topic challenge, might be Rain and or Snow.
Ideas? Any future topics any of you would like to suggest?
I hope to hear from you and get this revitalized, if possible.
Thanks!
I tried to start a couple of topics a few weeks ago. There was no interest.
My current guess, based on a poll about what members shoot, is that UHH is full of Nikon and Canon DSLR owners that really don't have ANY interest in video.
This really is dead and cold.
Just discovered it tonight :)
I've just got decent video making capability, I don't know what I intend to do with it yet.

Blackest,
If you have a hobby try to make a short video on it and put it on youtube. You will get the experience of using your equipment and editing sound and picture. A three or four minute video should take about 8 hours to do. Best way to learn is just to do.

Thats part of the problem, finding the time to go out and do it. I need to think of a story to tell first.
I think Scoutman envisioned making videos as something like making movies, eg a fictional artistic presentation. I have one fictional video I made on my youtube channel called "Bob's Inteview With An Alien". I went through the process of writing a script, creating a sound track, etc. It was fun, but only got 50 views. A shorter video I created in a couple of hours about tethering the Nikon D3100 to a monitor got over 5,000 views. Not that one is better than the other, just an observation. I think the question is if we make videos, why do we do it? Over and above having the experience of creating a video, is there something we can contribute to the viewer? Just some random musings...
