Was that it? Is there a reference to another site or anything else?

Yes, I read it when I first opened up IE, News headlines, it
is all there.
Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson isn't building bridges between science and religion during the holiday season.
The famed scientist is under fire for making statements his critics said belittled Christmas and shows a lack of respect for Christians, which included a tweet that recognized the birthday of revolutionary physicist and mathematician, Isaac Newton, on Christmas day.
"On this day long ago, a child was born who, by age 30, would transform the world. Happy Birthday Isaac Newton b. Dec 25, 1642," deGrasse tweeted, among other statements.

On Saturday, deGrasse decided to address the controversy and what he's referred to as his "most retweeted tweet."
"My sense in this case is that the high rate of re-tweeting, is not to share my enthusiasm of this fact, but is driven by accusations that the tweet is somehow anti-Christian," he wrote on Facebook. "If a person actually wanted to express anti-Christian sentiment, my guess is that alerting people of Isaac Newton's birthday would appear nowhere on the list."
DeGrasse said that he received requests to delete the tweet. But instead of doing so, he tried the logical approach with his critics.
Imagine a world in which we are all enlightened by objective truths rather than offended by them

Thank you. I had thought you would reference that in your original post. Forgive me if you had done that but I still see nothing regarding where the referenced material is.
Dennis
I thought it was generally accepted that there is no reason to believe Jesus Christ was actually born on December 25. Or it is one of those "faith" things?

The last I heard Jesus official birth month was in April but due to the change of the calendar from BC to AD it became December. Does it make any difference really? To we Christians there is more than ample evidence through biblical as well as historical proof that Jesus of Nazareth was born, spread the word and was put to death on the cross. What remains is whether you believe He was the Son of God. For those who do not believe in any God I guess you don't need to worry about it.

No need for rudeness to me. This is all I saw in your first post. I see nothing but you mentioning the professor twittering his message about Jesus and Christians moving in for the kill. I wanted to read more and was asking where did the information come from so I could take a look. Is your post, IT, nothing more? We should all revel in your post? You seem to post as if we all know who this professor is. I don't. Is this so hard for you to grasp. Forgive me if it is me who is missing something here.

The thing is, I don't see why Christians should get bent out of shape because someone wants to honor someone who really was born on Dec. 25.

Nor do I. I totally agree with you on that premise. So far I haven't seen anything where they are bent out of shape.

No...not thin skinned, just a bit tired of misinformation masquerading as news.
Our buddy Neil is as mis-informed as they come when it comes to anything Christian or much of science as it relates to Christianity either.
I noticed that nobody writes things about Islam or slams Islam with the same fervor as they do Christianity...lol...I wonder if it's because Christians don't fire-bomb those who disagree?
I guess Neil is just ignorant of the fact that many of the scientists of the past (and present) were, and are, bible believing Christians who believe in a special creation only 7000 years or so ago.
But then, the facts don't matter when it's Christianity you are slamming.
Thanks for bringing this up so I could point that out...I appreciate you doing your part.

The professor stated a fact. Why do people get bent around the axle over these things?
I don't see what the big deal is, you can go to any hospital on Christmas Day and see babies being born. The 25th of December is just a day set aside to honor the birth of someone who changed the world forever in all aspects of life, not just in math.
My two cents worth!
