i shoot Sony and have bought 3 of Friedman's books one each for my Sony Cameras and have found them very helpful and very thorough. I do not have the a6000 though.. I've got the a100, a99 and RX100 m3...

It was especially helpful to me in setting up my RX100 as there are A LOT of MENU options and limited numbers of buttons. I was able to get this camera set up so that the options and functions I use most were at my finger tips.. I could not have done this without this book and the detail explanations of each menu function and how they interact with each other and the various shooting modes. I shoot RAW and mostly Manual Exposure resulting in the need for a lot of shooting adjustments that need to be done quickly.

I'm currently reading the Friedman book and it's excellent but it's the only one I have on the a6000 so I can't compare it to any other books. However, you need something because even Sony's on line manual does not give you nearly enough detail on all of this camera's great features.

Yes, the Gary Friedman book is quite good. The PDF from his website is better than the Amazon Kindle edition although about $10.00 more.

You are quite right. I find that Sony's online user manual details out the camera's features, but offers little to no explanation as to how to use the features. Leaves the user a bit in a head scratching mode, IMO.

I see you can get the book in B&W, color, or online. Forgetting the price differential, I am leaning to the online or color version. Anyone using it online?

I have Friedman's in B&W; takes a while to absorb 600 pages. You are not going to find many people who have two or more compeing manuals to give you a comparison.

When I have absorbed the hard copy I will revert to digital edition and put book up for sale. Let me know if you want it.

I've found Friedman's books to be the best for whatever Sony camera you own. Also, he is very responsive and answers questions very quickly and thoroughly.

The Friedman book seems to be a great book for the Sony A6000.
I have found that David Busch's books are usually great at filling in the gaps that the user manual does not cover. He has not published one for the A6000.
If you check on YouTube Gary Fong as some great vids on the Sony A6000 also.
