Question for whoever uses this device.

From the ad in this month's Outdoor Photographer, the web site and the video its got me a bit excited. Might be getting G.A.S.

Is it as good as it appears to be?

I have to move over to my computer - some of the features of their website, such as the demonstration video, don't work well on my iPad. No biggie. My prelim reaction is that the "folded size" -apparently between 27 and 30" seems moderately large, esp for travel use. What were the features you initially found attractive?

I have a relatively light weight Manfrotto 680B monopod that collapses down to 19.75" in length (before adding a panhead). That is small enough to pack in a suitcase. It is all aluminum rather than carbon fiber - the CF model would be nice from a weight standpoint.

OK, though it is not a deal-breaker, their website is NOT Apple friendly. On my laptop their video runs about 4 secs then stops, starting again takes several tries, then it runs 4 secs and stops. I will look elsewhere for a lightweight monopod.

I have the Manfroto 628B which collapses down to 27", has legs that unscrew from the bottom.
re the Sirui - I like the fold down legs, the swivel, the pay, that the feet can be removed for low angle/table top. The biggest holdback is that the one that I would need for the load bearing capacity costs about $330.00

I wish they had one that would shut down to about 18"...but for $300 some bucks....I'll pass.

I own a Sirus monopod # 326 that I prefer to my Gitzo monopod. Then my brother bought a Sirus tripod - that personally I did not like at all (not sturdy) but it closed to being very small for travel. He loved it. However it was not sturdy which is the purpose of a tripod. Here my Gitzo tripod won my a mile from my point of view - all items so far carbon fiber. I suggest you buy from a reputable dealer so you could return as they are made by a Chinese company. I guess that's why their website can sometimes be slow to load. My brother changed his Sirus tripod to the metal version as the weight difference was only a few ozs but there was a bigger cost saving.

I'm planning on purchasing a monopod with feet shortly. This one is interesting because of its tilting abilities. I'm thinking that would be a good thing on uneven terrain (downhill slopes). However, I also think that since I don't see the world straight, I frequently would have it crooked and not know it. I depend heavily on the levels on my tripod!

It is mostly gimmicky and of little practical advantageous use.

I have and use 3 different monopods for different applications. Most people using a monopod use it for the ergonomics and speed of useage. All my monopods adjust from the TOP. The Manfrotto 685b is one hand adjustable from the top. All my monopods have a tilt head. For following action with a big lens, I use a video fluid head.

I have the Sirui P-424S carbon fiber monopod and OMG, do I love this product ! Yes, it does have a ball at the bottom which, obviously, you can loosen to move the entire monopod in any direction while the bottom base (feet) remain stationary. This is fantastic for both photography and video. BTW, under no circumstances do you want to leave your camera unattended on this "monopod with feet" as it would not take much for the whole rig to fall over. In other words, this monopod with feet is not intended to replace a tripod. But I have to tell you, monopod with feet and especially this model that can swivel at the bottom (if you desire) takes photography and video to a whole new level. In fact, I saw a video of some wedding guys taking video with this type of monopod and they said ....."don't even think of shooting video at a wedding again without this type of monopod". I simply use for photography and video of grand kids, vacations, etc..........nothing commercial. I use with my Nikon D610 and usually Nikkor 28-300. My friend has the tripod version of this monopod and loves it. If you get severe GAS and make this purchase, I promise you that when the GAS temporarily leaves you, you will NOT return this monopod. Wow, one of my best purchases. I do also have to tell you, I do not work for this company.......just LOVE their product.
